To approve something or show your approval for something. Less formal than approve.
何かに賛成したり、同意を示すことの、カジュアルな表現。
Tom put forward his plan and the boss gave it the thumbs up.
トムはプランを提出し、上司はそれをよいと認めた。
人や物に対して、良いと認めたり、賛成・承認を示すという意味です。
thumbs-up とは本来、親指を立てるしぐさやサインのことで、口語で「承認、賛成、OK」 を示します。
