The calm before the storm
Definition: A time of quiet or peace before disaster or crisis.
災害や危機の前の、静かで平和なひと時
Example:
"I wanted to leave before the national holiday, so I could take advantage of the calm before the storm. However many people had the same idea and there was a traffic jam."
私は祝日の前に出発したかった。そうしたら、嵐の前の静けさで、チャンスだと思ったのだ。
だが、みんな同じことを考えたらしく、渋滞であった。
日本語のことわざでいう「嵐の前の静けさ」と同様に、大きな出来事や困難などを嵐に例え、それらが起こる前に訪れる静寂のことを表します。
