The hard truth or difficult aspect of something.
つらい事実、ものごとの難しい側面
" Big wave surfing is fast and exciting, but also dangerous. It's just the nature of the beast."
大波でサーフィンするのはスピードがあって興奮するが、危険だ。しかし、それが、サーフィンにはつきものなのだ。
物事や状況に本来備わっており、変えがたい、固有の特徴のことです。とくに良くないこと、難しいことに用いられます。
nature には冠詞 the がつき、" That's the nature of the beast." という形で用いられることが多いです。
